Printing Guidelines: HP DeisgnJet 5000

The HP DesignJet 5000 is a 1200 dpi postscript printer utilising 6 inks
with colour layering technology to produce ultimate photo quality prints,
with continuous tones, smooth transitions and a wide color gamut. The
maximum print size is 60" wide by unlimited length.
The following guidelines will ensure faster turnaround
and better output from your digital files. If you need further support,
please call 604.683.6991
and ask for Technical Support or click
here.
What we can print from:
QuarkXpress, Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator,
Adobe Acrobat, CorelDraw, and more. (call our technical support staff
if you are unsure of your application). Almost any application can be
used for digital printing, although in some cases it is necessary to create
a postscript file. We can also print from print-quality
PDF files or scan from hardcopy.
Scaling:
You do not have to set up your document at actual size. However, ensure
that your document will enlarge/reduce proportionally (ie 8.5" x
11" does not enlarge proportionally to 11" x 17")
Graphics:
All raster images must be scanned at a minimum resolution of 75 ppi at
reproduction size. For example, if you have a graphic placed into your
application at 150%, the graphic must be at least 112 ppi (75 ppi multiplied
by 150%). Recommended image resolution is 150 ppi at reproduction size.
Vector images can be scaled without losing any image quality.
Colour:
Do not trust the colours you see on your monitor. The DesignJet features
Automatic PANTONE Calibration, offset-printing-press emulations (Euroscale,
SWOP, DIC and TOYO) and ICC profiles
for Macintosh and Windows. If you do not run any colour management software
to utilise the ICC profiles, you should use the eyedropper tool in Photoshop
and read the Info palette for colour values.
What to send us:
In addition to your native file, send along all fonts and graphics in
case we need access for sizing or fixing elements before printing. Please
also include a printout if available.
How to send your file:
The fastest and preferred method of getting the file to us is to upload
the file to our website. You can register for an account here.
You can also email your file as an attachment to
Sales Department, however there is a file size limit of 8 MB on our mail server.
Remember to compress your files. You can download some
free compression utilities here. Samco also
