Printing Guidelines: DocuTech 135

The Xerox DocuTech 135 is a high speed document publisher. With a built-in
scanner and in-line finishing capabilities, the DocuTech is an intelligent
solution to short-run problems.
The following guidelines will ensure faster turnaround
and better output from your digital files. If you need further support,
please call 604.683.6991

What we can print from:
We can print from your digital document as long as your application can
output a PostScript file. We have instructions
on how to generate a PostScript file. We can also scan from hardcopies.
Laser printed originals will yield the best reproductions.
Scaling:
You do not have to set up your document at actual size. However, ensure
that your document will enlarge/reduce proportionally (ie 8.5" x
11" does not reduce proportionally to 5.5" x 8.5"). Also
keep in mind that when you enlarge/reduce a page size, fonts are enlarged/reduced
as well, so ensure that your text is legible at reproduction size.
Graphics:
All raster images must be scanned at a minimum resolution of 170 ppi at
reproduction size. For example, if you have a graphic placed into your
application at 150%, the graphic must be at least 255 ppi (170 ppi multiplied
by 150%). Recommended image resolution is 200 ppi at reproduction size.
Vector images can be scaled without losing any image quality.
How to set up your file:
Set up your file as single pages. The DocuTech can create signatures automatically.
The best thing to do is to check with us before starting on the project
so that we may provide advice and guidance and save you a lot of headaches
and money if the file was not set up properly.
What to send us:
In addition to your postscript file, send along a printout if available.
How to send your file:
The fastest and preferred method of getting the file to us is to upload
the file to our website. You can register for an account here.
You can also email your file as an attachment to
Sales Department, however there is a file size limit of 8 MB on our mail server.
Remember to compress your files. You can download some
free compression utilities here. Samco also
supports a wide variety of data carriers such as 3.5" floppy diskettes,
ZIP100 disks, ZIP250 disks, JAZ1GB disks, JAZ2GB disks and CD-ROMs.
