Installing the Docutech135 Printer Driver for Windows 95/98/ME

Installing a new printer for Windows for the first time can be pretty daunting. This section explains how to install the printer driver after you've downloaded the driver from Xerox's website. Once you have installed the printer driver, you'll be able to save your document as a Postscript file for printing on the Docutech.

  1. You may want to print out this guide for reference.

  2. Download the printer driver installation file from Xerox's website. Click here if you need help downloading.

  3. Once you have downloaded the Xerox Production Print Services (XPPS) installation file, double-click on the file to start the installation process.

  4. Click on Next> and the installer will start to copy some files into your system. The first selection is to select a language. Then select Install XPPS and in the next screen, select Install Xerox Printer Drivers & XDS.

  5. The Installation Wizard will take over the installation process. Click on Next> to start. Select Custom Setup Type. Click on Next> to continue.

  6. You do not need to install XDS. Select DT Server and install only the
    135 PS2 driver. Click on Next> to continue.

  7. Click Yes to accept the Adobe End User License Agreement.

  8. Port Assignment should be set to File. Click on Next> to continue.

  9. Click on Next> to confirm your settings. Once the setup has completed, select Yes and click on Finish to restart your computer.

  10. After your computer has restarted, we need to configure your printer properties. Click on Start, Settings, Printers to show a list of all installed printers. Right-click on the Docutech135 PS2 C5 driver and select Properties.

  11. Click on the Fonts tab and select Always use TrueType fonts.

  12. Click on the Postscript tab and select Postscript (Optimize for Portability - ADSC). Click OK.

  13. You are now ready to print to a Postscript file from your Windows applications.
